JOSEPHINE DOW

Facilitator at The Rhythms Within

Josephine Dow is a hanpan/frame drum musical artist, facilitator, and performer based on Orcas Island, WA. Her frame drum journey began in 2017 when she took her first frame drum lesson from her uncle and world renowned percussionist Jamey Haddad. She immediately felt like she found her life path and has played everyday since. Her new found passion for the drum lead her to discover the goddess/priestess traditions of ancient societies who used the drum to enter altered states of consciousness during ceremony and celebration. She is passionate about supporting those who feel called to the frame drum as it is an incredible ally on this life journey with it’s circular symbolism and deeply resonant harmonics. Josephine is also currently working on her Advanced M.E.T.A. Hang certification with professional hang player Laura Inserra. She consistently studies with female frame drum expert Marla Leigh Goldstein, frame drum artist Miranda Rondeau, as well as world percussionists Jamey Haddad, & River Guerguerian. She’s grateful for all her teachers and students who inspire her to dive deeper into the great musical mysteries. Music is life-the more we embrace this the deeper we listen to it’s song.

The Rhythms Within is not exclusive to women but encourages the mysterious, magical, creative feminine spirit in us all to wake up and dance. Centered around the ancient art of the frame drum we come together to remember something old and to give ourselves a life-renewed by rhythm. I provide 1:1 and group spaces for beings to access the spirit of music by diving deep into the technical and spiritual aspects of both the frame drum and the handpan. I am passionate about both of these instruments unique capabilities to provide the personal healing necessary for beings to move through any blockages that inhibit them from accessing the music that’s flowing through them. I provide both tangible and esoteric support that’s unique to each beings intentions with this instrument. I aim to provide a safe space space for you to embody music and watch the majic unfold.

“Peace Through Music to me is a state of being. It’s a way we approach every aspect of life. Using Music and as the medium through which we move through internal blockages to access a sense of inner peace and the medium we use to create peace/harmony in all our relations. Through this UniVERSEal (1 VERSE) language of music we can create the harmonic structures necessary for healing our inner landscapes that impact all of our outer landscapes.”
